ABOUT
Hi Friend! My name is Miriam and I’m a professional violinist and tie-dye artist. I’m also a former orchestra director but I gave up that lifestyle to live a slower, healthier life and to be able to spend more time with my daughter and husband.
I’ve always loved Tie-Dye as a kid and began my journey with tie-dye projects in my teens. During Covid I looked for activities to do at home with my daughter, and I experimented with Ice-Dye. We had so much fun and I began to experiment with different folds and techniques. Through word of mouth I began receiving commissioned shirts to dye, and eventually I opened my business. At the end of 2021.
I’m also a professional violinist and served in our Public School systems for 11 years, 10 of those as a High School Orchestra Director. It was a full schedule -with early morning rehearsals and evening rehearsals or performances. In 2018 for the sake of my health I left my post and became a free-range musician. I’ve also been teaching violin for more that 20 years, and still teach private lessons today. I also play in an all-female quartet named the Ta-Ta Quartet.
We live in a CoHousing Community in Minneapolis, Minnesota where we share Community responsibilities and also live amongst other musicians and artists. (We aren’t an artist community, we just happen to have other artists here.) I’m grateful for being able to have space to work on all my creative projects, and I value living in a community that encourages small artists to thrive.
